Seminar Description

This session will review the RoP infection prevention and control program updates and UTI and catheter insert/left in bladder quality measures that impact the Quality Measure component of the Nursing Home Compare Five-Star Quality Rating system. During the session, we will review how these measures are calculated and how they impact your overall Five-Star Quality Rating. The session will focus on best practices for reducing urinary tract infections and unnecessary catheter use in your facility and how to improve these measures using a QAPI framework with emphasis on reduction of common MDS coding errors and implementation of a facility specific Five Star road map action plan. Sample tools will be shared for driving and sustaining Five Star Quality.

Amie Martin is an Occupational Therapist with twenty years of experience serving in long term care leadership and as a clinical program specialist. She is certified in healthcare compliance, and has successfully partnered with providers to improve clinical outcomes, compliance programs, medical record documentation, and to reduce error rates under medical review.  Working with legal counsel to prepare defensive arguments and provide expert witness testimony, she has defended rehabilitation providers under large volume ZPIC and RAC government audits.   Amie’s recent publications include articles for the American Occupational Therapy Association, American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordination, American College of Health Care Administrators, and the American Health Lawyers Association.

She earned the QAPI Certified Professional (QCP) credential from the American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordination (AANAC), which was established to promote the highest standards for QAPI program implementation in the long-term care profession.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be made in writing and emailed to kahcfinfo@kahcf.org or faxed to (502-425-3431). Cancellations by phone will not be accepted. Cancellations received no later than September 12 will receive a full refund. Cancellations received between September 13 and September 19 will receive a refund of 1/2. Registrants who do not attend or who do not complete the full webinar will not receive a refund unless prior written notice is given to the KAHCF office.

Each Person Seeking a Certificate of Completion for contact hours must:

  • Register and pay the fee. If more than one person in an organization needs to obtain CEUs, each person seeking credit must register separately and pay the $55 fee.
  • Provide their license number(s) and state(s) of issue on the registration form.
  • Access the webinar from an individual computer using the login/password provided in their registration confirmation. KAHCFcannot issue CEUs to multiple people using the same computer/laptop.
  • Participate in the webinar for the duration of the content presentation and Q&A period.
    KAHCF cannot credit individuals who log in late, log off early, remain logged in after the webinar has ended, or only listen to the audio portion.
A Certificate of Completion will be updated on the KAHCF website within four weeks of the live event.
