Seminar Description

The Kentucky Office of Inspector General, CMS' designated State Survey Agency will provide an in-depth overview of the new CMS Nursing Facility Requirements of Participation (RoP) and survey process which become fully effective November 28, 2017. Moreover, essential resources will be discussed that will assist with implementation of the updated federal Nursing Facility RoPs and the new survey process.

Target Audience

The Office of Inspector General recommends a minimum of two individuals attend per facility – one attendee must be from management.

Objectives


  • Describe the rationale for implementing changes to the LTC Regulations.
  • Recall the tasks required to complete the new LTC survey process.
  • Demonstrate how to complete the Facility Matrix and list the information needed to conduct the survey during Entrance Conference.
  • Explain changes in the LTC regulations scheduled to be implemented for Phase 2 (November 28, 2017).
  • Identify the resources available from CMS for implementation of the new requirements and survey process.


Speaker Info

Sandra Houchen, Director
Division of Health Care, Office of Inspector General
A registered nurse, Sandra has previously served in various roles with the OIG, including Deputy Inspector General, Staff Assistant and Nurse Consultant Inspector. She has her BS in Nursing from the University of South Alabama and has completed post-baccalaureate courses at the University of Louisville. Sandra also worked as a Nurse Service Administrator with DCBS, where she provided medical review and assessment in adult abuse, neglect and exploitation cases.

Michelle Mitchell, NCI Trainer
Division of Health Care, Office of Inspector General

Michelle Mitchell is responsible for training new employees, assisting with ongoing division staff training, and serves as the CMP Grant Fund Liaison. Michelle is a registered nurse with 16 years of experience. She also has 23 years of state government experience, which was spent in Public Health where she served as a nurse administrator in the Division of Women’s Health. She worked in the Department for Medicaid Services as the nurse consultant inspector to the medical director. In addition, Michelle previously worked at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center and provided direct patient care on a medical/surgical floor.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be made in writing and emailed to kahcfinfo@kahcf.org or faxed to (502-425-3431). Cancellations by phone will not be accepted. Cancellations received no later than Nov. 20 will receive a full refund. Cancellations received between Nov 21 and Nov 27 will receive a refund of 1/2. Registrants who do not attend or who do not complete the full webinar will not receive a refund unless prior written notice is given to the KAHCF office.
