Seminar Description

KAHCF is offering additional an 6 hours of training for the NIPP Nursing Home Infection Prevention Program (Nipping infections in the Bud) for those who attended the  original 10 hours of training offered in December 2016, March 2017, and August 2017.

KAHCF is partnering with RB Health Partners, Inc. to offer a specialized training that will equip long term care facilities with the tools they need to participate in surveillance; learn and use infection control and containment practices; and adopt a proactive approach to preventing spread while being good stewards of antibiotics to preserve effectiveness of the agents we have today. The specialized training will utilize the RB Health Partners, Inc. Nursing Home Infection Prevention Program (NIPP)  agenda for the six hours of training is as follows:

KAHCF consulted with AHCA, and CMS recently and has advised us that acceptable specialized training for designated infection preventionists will require at least 16 to 20 hours in length and the content must address of variety of areas. It is our understanding that CMS Will release a S&C memo on this. CMS has not released the S & C Memo as of 2/2/2018!

Speaker Info

Anabelle Locsin, RN, Ed.D., RAC-CT, LNC 

Anabelle Locsin has worked in the nursing profession for 46 years in various universities and health care settings. Mrs. Locsin completed her degrees from Silliman University in the Philippines; her BSN, Master of Arts in Nursing and her doctorate degree in Educational Administration. She has various experiences as an Asst. Professor in Colleges of Nursing. She first came to New York in 1985 and worked for Hebrew Home of the Aged at Riverdale, Bronx. She worked as a staff nurse for a year and then was promoted to a Nurse Manager position after passing the state board.She also worked at New Rochelle Hospital Medical Center as a Clinical Leader of a medical-surgical floor overseeing and coordinating the care of patients. Even while at the hospital, she continued to work at the skilled nursing facility as a Supervisor. Then she was relocated to Florida where she worked at Tampa Doctors’ Hospital as Director of Education and started a geriatric program.

 

After a year, Mrs. Locsin went to work for Bayfront Medical Center. She worked with the Vice President of Nursing doing special projects, staff/community education and served as an Instructor for USF student nurses having their clinical rotation at BMC. She also worked for BayCare at the Nursing Center for Learning as an Educator. Her various experiences include teaching in colleges of nursing and working in hospitals, home health, and Skilled Nursing facilities. She has been a Director of Nursing since 1997 and her last employment at Menorah Manor she worked as a Chief Nursing Officer for almost 12 years and retired on January 22, 2017. She has completed training as a LTC Risk Manager, is RAC-CT certified, has been a Legal Nurse Consultant and completed training with NYU for the NICHE (Nurses Taking Care of the Hospitalized Elderly) program. Mrs. Locsin has received recognition as Florida Nurse of the Year from Nursing Spectrum, RN of the Year from FHCA, and being a speaker in regional/state/national/international conferences, and other management related commendations. In her retirement, she continues to want to be involved in sharing her knowledge and expertise related to education, gerontology and geriatric care.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be made in writing and emailed to kahcfinfo@kahcf.org or faxed to 502-425-3431. Cancellations by phone will not be accepted. Cancellations received no later than February 20 will receive a full refund. Cancellations received between February 21-27 will receive a refund of 1/2. Registrants who do not attend or who do not complete the full seminar will not receive a refund unless prior written notice is given to the KAHCF office.
