Seminar Description

Accurate ICD-10 coding will be critical with implementation of PDPM October 1st
This seminar will provide insight for billing, administrative and clinical staff on the importance of correct ICD-10 coding.  Actual Medicare 5 day MDS scenarios will be reviewed to show the impact of ICD-10 coding, and the online Clinical Category Mapping and NTA Comorbidity Mapping CMS coding resources will be demonstrated.

  • Brief Overview of the PDPM Reimbursement system
  • PDPM Components- Changes from RUGS IV
  • Compute actual PDPM rates based on 5 day assessments
 

Objectives

  • Understand the impact of ICD-10 coding on the PDPM reimbursement system
  • Learn the MDS changes and major nursing items that will impact PDPM reimbursement
  • Identify the interventions needed for the facility PDPM transition plan
 

Speaker Info

Janine Lehman is a Registered Nurse, a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant and is Wound Care Certified. For the past 20 years, she has worked in all aspects of geriatric nursing, from nursing assistant and charge nurse to MDS Coordinator and Director of Nursing. Presently she oversees all areas of resident care in each of our owned locations and is an active member of the KAHCF. She is a current member and past President of the State Council of the Kentucky Association of Director of Nursing Administrator's, (KADONA), was the provider representative on the Case Mix Appeals Panel, and has served on the IDR panel and the MDS Validation work group. She is a frequent presenter at the LTC Management Training, MDS Basic and Advanced Training as well as many other KAHCF seminars. As a Certified Legal Nurse consultant, she provides legal nurse consulting services including clinical case evaluations, chart audits and expert testimony.

Rhonda Houchens, Director of Operations, Hargis & Associates LLC, Rhonda has been with Hargis & Associates, a CPA & Consulting firm specializing in healthcare accounting, billing, tax and consulting services for over 21 years.    Rhonda’s areas of knowledge span from financial as an accountant to Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement as one of the firms senior healthcare consultants.  Rhonda works with various healthcare providers across multiple states.

Cost: $55 free standing for members, $65 for nonmembers

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be made in writing and emailed to kahcfinfo@kahcf.org or faxed to (502-425-3431). Cancellations by phone will not be accepted. Cancellations received no later than April 10 will receive a full refund. Cancellations received between August 10-16 will receive a refund of 1/2. Registrants who do not attend or who do not complete the full seminar will not receive a refund unless prior written notice is given to the KAHCF office.
